I would like to start off by giving a little bit of a background, so as to give a small understanding about my personal experience.
I first got my Xoom in June. It was my sister's birthday, I got it when I got her present. I got her an iPad 2. She loves it, still to this day. But thus is hardly about her. For the first month, I barely used my laptop for normal browsing. I tried to do my assignments on it's but the lack of coding tools hindered me. It didn't matter, though, I trudged forward in amazing fashion.
A month later, I was using it less. The small problems that I didn't seem to care about were more obvious against my sister's iPad 2. updates helped, but my tablet was the also-used as opposed to the main work horse.
When I heard about his 4.0 was going to change everything, I started to get impatient. I wanted it now. Fast forward to the day it came to my Xoom. It updated, everything was faster. I ended up wiping it, factory reset, and started to re-download the applications. Fast forward a couple more weeks, and this is my review of the Ice Cream Sandwich.
What have they done right?
Everything is faster, as I have said. Applications that took 5 seconds to open now only take 2. This also translates to a faster UI, where I no longer notice the lags that come with leaving the tablet on. Start ups and shutdowns are faster as well. Overall, it is just more pleasant. The spell check is improved, with the ability to have the word be finished before you would be able to do so on your own. This could be done via an app, but I like it being in the main operating system. Also, it applies to almost everything I use.
I see fewer crashes. This wasn't a huge problem, but it happened more than I would like. The only downside is that I have run inti a program or two that just choose to lag instead. Sim City Deluxe is the most annoying.
Web browsing is improved, but is likely to not matter with chrome coming. It is in beta on the market.
Last, but not least, is battery life. I have seen a good 10% increase from Honeycomb. That is good enough for me, considering I could get ten hours of movie wat hing when I first upgraded to 3.2.
I just felt I'd throw it out there that this update has grout new life to my machine.
