My keyboard hides with the notification pop up and i have to swipe the notification

[Android Central Question]

I am using pixel 3 device running Android 12 and using stock Gboard with it and whenever i am using apps like WhatsApp and typing the notification pop up closes the keyboard. Please help its annoying

Try clearing Google keyboard data then force stop it.

I also suffer from this same problem. I have a pixel 6 on Android 13 and use Gboard 12.3


All notifications which pop up on the screen will minimise the keyboard and I can't reopen it until I swipe the notification away

Welcome to Android Central! Try clearing the app cache/data for Gboard in Settings>Apps and then Force Close it. Open it again and see if the problem persists.

What do you mean? Literally, any notification from any app will do it. I don't feel like sharing screenshots of my chats.

I've tried clearing the cache and force closing. The problem persists. I will try a different virtual keyboard to see if it's a problem with Pixel's Distribution or with GBoard

Also try Safe Mode: https://support.google.com/pixelpho...hone's power button,the bottom of your screen. Preinstalled apps should still be able to give you notifications, and you can see if Gboard still disappears when a notification comes in.

I see your using buttons , how about when u use gestures?

Since restarting the phone, I am unable to replicate the bug. Either that, or it's only chat notification which trigger it. It's 2am so my chats are quiet. If it happens again on a chat notification, I'll go into safe mode and ask my friend to text me
