My LG G8 ThinQ has no IMEI. I can't receive updates.

I bought a pre-owned LG G8 thinQ in Malaysia. Somehow the dealer got a phone from Verizon and it must have come to him without IMEI. Of course i didn't realize the significance of this with regards software updates. I can't receive software updates without the IMEI in the phone.

Can anyone help me overcome this?

Phones in US doesn't come without IMEI, so something wrong right there, your dealer selling it to you is something wrong also . Return it back .
Nothing you can fix with that.

Welcome to Android Central! That would be highly suspicious for a fake/knockoff phone or a stolen phone. I agree with mustang7757, ask the seller for a refund. If they refuse, then consider contacting local police authorities to report possible stolen merchandise.
