My local Sprint it taking pre-orders

First off this is my first post, GREAT forum guys, absolutely great.

I called 2 local stores. One had no idea what I was talking about, another didn't know of a firm release date however they ARE taking pre-orders. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the store location(for those that are local to me) but I will if I'm allowed to.

Also, in chatting with a Sprint CSR I was complaining about the service credit deal ending on the 23rd and the EVO release date possibly being the 24th. He/She said to buy a phone now to take advantage of the credit then just return it under the 30 day satisfaction guarantee and get the EVO3D.

I know how rumors go and how some reps don't know a damn thing but this is just some info I came across from Sprint so I figured I'd pass the info along.

I'm not certain as I've never done it, but regarding the "return within 30 days" thing, there may be a $35 fee of some sort. I think I saw someone mention that here in one of the threads. Not sure but it's possible. So, you would need to take that into consideration if it is in fact the case.

And yes, there will be a $35 restocking fee. Ive already done it once in anticipation for this phone, I just kinda dont want to go though it again.

The reason why I posted it was because from reading on here was most Sprint stores weren't taking pre-orders or had no idea what was going on.

I was just trying to help.

i just called my local sprint store and asked if i can preorder the phone and they said yes and took my name and number down. I didn't have to buy a $50 GC like some others said they had to. Then again, I got no confirmation so he might as well just pretended to write my info down or threw it in the trash

Was able to pre-order at the local Sprint store. Problem is if this does release on the 24th, I'll be out of town then. Hoping it doesn't sell out before Monday or hoping the release date's a bit earlier. (Fellow Premier members, I know we get advanced notice of products, but what about advance sales? My last two phones had already been out for a while so this will be the first launch date I get to check out.)

Girl I spoke with seemed to think it was releasing on the 4th, but I think she's mistaken (hope she's not though). Seemed to be a bit of confusion as to when they'll really stop the credit for porting a number to Sprint as well.

Was this a 3rd party retailer or a corporate store? Not sure why she would think the phone might release on the 4th...I mean, it's officially the 3rd today they should have had training and some phones in stock for the phone to be released on the 4th.

That's my concern, the porting service credit, if the 24th is the true date we might get screwed. I think what I might do is wait a week before the 24th and see if they extend that porting credit, if not then I'll just get an EVO 4G and take it back under the 30 day guarantee, even if there's a $35 restocking fee that still is worth the $125 credit(yay, I can do simple math, lol. )

No, was an actual Sprint store, not a 3rd party one. There are two in my area and that's the smaller one, maybe they are more used to taking payments than selling phones. I was the first person for that store that actually did the pre-order.

Something else of note, which I'm not sure is true or not but it's what the Sprint Girl told me: Sprint will not accept a 30 day exchange for a phone that's just been released within the first 30 days of that release because of folks doing just what you're planning.

Again, this is coming from the same girl that thought the 3D was coming out on the 4th so....grain of salt and such.

That would make sense. The rep I chatted with on Sprint.com actually suggested to do what I wanted to do with getting the EVO4G then returning it, haha. Who knows, I'm sure if we talked to 7 more reps we'd get 4 more opinions lol
