Android Central Question

After restarting automatically three or four times my phone showed the error com.android.phone has stopped. I tried closing the error screen but it just kept popping up. I found online that if I restart, open settings>apps>Phone and clear cache it may solve the problem.

I did that and there is no error message but the phone looks different (nothing on any of the home screens) the apps are still there just no shortcut to the home screen.

I still have a warning Backup your data isn't backed up.

I opened a couple of apps and they have lost all of their settings.
It looks like my address book and photos are still there.

Is there a way back to my original phone setup? Does anyone know what happened?

Welcome to Android Central! If you're using the stock launcher (rather than a 3rd party launcher like Nova), then there's no backup for the homescreen setups. You'll just have to set them up again.

Try booting into Safe Mode to see if the same thing happens: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/indevice_detail/a_id/120286/p/30,6720,10216

Also, make sure your important data is backed up NOW, since this could be a sign that the phone will fail soon.
