So my phone died on 3% last night, plugged the phone into the close-by iMac that had a charger sticking out of it and walked away. Came back 5min later, nothing turned on even, nothing happened. Waited some more...nothing.

Took the charger out, walked to the cable plug adapter in the living room and plugged both into it. Waited 10min, nothing happened at all.

Had to go into my room now, getting late, plug it into the the official charger and cable Motorola sent me with the phone...has been in there for 15min, and nothing. I try to hold the power button again to see if some type of display shows up, nada.

Plug it out of there and then attempted to charge it with my PC's USB port. Nothing. Before I went to sleep plug it back into the official Moto cable and charger.

What happened? What do I do? It has never taken this long, it's died on me before and usually minutes after plugging it in SOME type of battery display or whatever pops up on the phone screen. The phone isn't even heating up or anything despite the charger being in all this accumulative time. And now it's been in the charger overnight, so for 7-8 hours.

This is my replacement phone from Motorola that was sent to me a few weeks ago, the first one stopped being able to rotate. And now this happened with my new phone. Please help or give me insight.

Update: It's now 11am and has been in the charger overnight for like 8 hours. Someone told me to just leave it in there, don't mess with it. Still nothing. Still not even heated up.

PLEASE someone help me, I have important things in there and like you know the storage isn't removable at all neither is the battery. I need some way to fix this or be able to remove my data, this is really freaking important, PLEASE HELP ME.

Put it on the OEM charger directly connected to AC power for approx 24 hours and then hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.

How do I know how much approximately is? I have to stay up again tonight until 4-5 am then, right?

Is this just a common android practice fix or a Moto X fix? I am in dire need so thanks for taking the time to answer. I'm gonna have to resort to charging my 4S back to life to use for the day, which looks to be going fine despite that phone dying multiple times in the past...

Also the phone has been in the extension cable with plug ports that my PC is also connected to for power, it's been like that the whole night. Should I remove it and place it directly into an outlet or just let it be since its been in there for 8 hours already?

The typical PC USB port has a max charge of .5A while the AC charger that came with your phone is either 1.2A or 2.1A (I can't remember which right now, but either way at least twice as capable). Whenever at all possible, letting the device die should be avoided. I've never heard of this being necessary on a Moto X, but this has worked for folks with Nexus 7's before.

What I mean is it's not directly plugged into an outlet, the charger is plugged into an extension cable that is also powering up other things like my PC.

Should I leave that in there since its been in there already for 8 hours and not mess with it OR should I quickly take it out of the extension cable and plug it directly into an outlet?

Plugged in for a while and hold center of the volume rocker and power button for 5-10secs. It should boot up

I did that last night and nothing happened. Although I held the down volume button and power button, not the center of it, because everywhere I ever asked said that it's the down volume button that needs to be held in conjunction. Not just asked, that's what all the tutorials point to whenever booting up your phone like that is brought up.

I did that about 4-5 times, even once when I held it down for like 2min before letting go, and nothing happened.

I'm not too sure if I should mess with it again and try your "center volume" method...everyone keeps on saying to just not touch it anymore. Unless you experienced the SAME EXACT THING with your phone and you fixed it...

Does your X have Lollipop yet? That sequence may be different with L than with KK. I know getting to the recovery menu is.

Did you get this resolved have you called Motorola

Have you checked to make sure the USB port on your phone is clear of debris? I've had pocket lint in my port before that kept the phone from charging. I used a small wire to dig out the fuzz. Good luck!

Similar thing happened to my 2013 Moto X (it said it was charging, then it wouldn't charge/turn on that night/the next morning), and after testing several cables/chargers in addition to the OEM one, I contacted Motorola and they replaced it. They know a power system short when they hear one.
