My motox pure locked me out. The message says Gboard keeps shutting down.

I suspect that follo wing an update today, when I tried to make a phone call my Motox pure turned itself off. When I turned it back on, the keyboard did not appear when I swiped for entering my password. Instead it went into an emergency phone mode, with only a horizontal line with a blinking cursor showing .
However weather, and news items are displayed as notifications.
When trying to use the emergency phone by dialing, the message "Gboard keeps stopping" is displayed. Also a notice of EMERGENCY INFORMATION is shown in a box above the dialing keyboard.
I cannot get into the settings app.
I have a lot of emails photos and text messages, now I cannot even transfer to another smart phone.
Can anyone help me on this? I never had any problems with this phone before.

I'm seeing a lot of "Gboard not working" posts on various phones - I suspect a bug in the latest update (it was updated on December 17, 2019, and may have been updates soon before that also).

Either use another device to go to Google Play and install a different keyboard on your phone, or plug in a USB keyboard, run Play and install a different keyboard. (I prefer SwiftKey Keyboard, so I don't have it happening. And I'm not about to update Gboard, switch to it, and get locked out.)
