My new LG V30 Bluetooth refuses to pair

[Android Central Question]

References give only one way to pair Bluetooth - namely turn on Bluetooth and select device. Does not work. Finds some spurious devices called "misc" which don't exist but not real audio speaker. My Samsung phone connects fine to same speaker. I can't find an app that helps. Youtube also blithely assumes pairing works. Limited app RESET didn't help. I can't find any other settings to try. FACTORY reset is too drastic to try. Are there any other switches to try?

Welcome to Android Central! Which Bluetooth device are you trying to pair? Are you certain you're using the correct process on that device to make it discoverable? Or is the device already paired, but you just can't connect to it to start playing music?
