Is there a switch or something I need to do to have it connect to public wifi accounts?
This past month I was traveling in the states, (I'm in Canada) and when we were in hotels with free wifi my phone wouldn't connect. It would find the wifi of the hotel to connect to, I would press connect, and then it would take me to a supposed webpage to "log in" for free but that webpage would NEVER load! And I would wait, and wait to no avail.

And its the same back home, I can't connect properly to free wifi at stores or at the mall or wherever. I don't understand why not.

Can anyone give any insight? :(

I ran into this in cancun mexico, frustrated me to no end on my nexus 5...

I think it's a chrome issue, it would load the log-in, but never accept my input, I had to stay refreshing the browser until it worked, ten the log-in timed out, & wash rinse repeat..

I gave up & depended on the telcel connection & tethered the laptop to that also..

but the funny thing is, at starbucks, which depends on the same style of log in (WEP via the browser) loads, then remembers you the next time..

Thank you so much for that link!!! I read the whole thread. I've made a memo in my phone of instructions what to do in future when I'm having troubles. thanks again!! :) :) :)

Are you sure it's not a "captive portal" thing? So that it's not enough to just connect to the network, but that you have to authenticate yourself via a website?
