My Nexus won't let me enter text?

Last night my Nexus all of a sudden decided that it doesn't want to enter text properly... Every time I try to type something I can press one letter and then the keyboard goes away. And then it lags tremendously before it comes back up. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Assuming you're using the stock keyboard, try going to settings>apps>all>android keyboard>clear data. See if that works my friend!
