My note 8 phone does not show that I have a message on the app

My note 8 Samsung is not showing up on the message app or icon. Notification is on

Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about the unread count badge on the app icon? Or that you're not getting any notifications for text messages at all?

On mine I have badges on everything except my messeges app and its turned on. I have to keep looking at my phone off and on to see if I have any messeges right now. Can you help?

Are you not seeing them on the AOD?

I just fixed it today. I had not sound or no badges on my message app. so I went and turned on the badges first. then I went under advanced notifications made sure eve re thing was correct there. under General notifications and new messages it said no sound. so I change them both to sound with pop up on screen and that fix my problem. I'm wondering if everyone else is having the same problem that has wrote this on the Samsung page
