Hey all,
I have had this phone for almost 2 years. have loved everything about it, until last month. It was stuck on the Verizon screen, after spontaneously rebooting. Did a soft reset and it was fine for a bit. Then apps started crashing, one by one. Even the system apps, especially Samsung Experience and Android web view. I have done everything to fix this: wiped cache partition, uninstalled apps, started in safe mode...all to no avail. Everything, except a factory reset. It does work great, at times, but when it crashes...it REALLY crashes. Sometimes it is awhile, before I can even get it to turn on.
I think this happened after the late January update.
Samsung was great when contacting them. They suggested re-flashing the ROM. They pretty much assured me, that that would fix the problem. The nearest store that can do this is far from my home and after talking to them, they said it may not fix the problem.
I am close to paying this phone off and if I have to, I will get a new one. I would prefer to keep this phone.
My question is, is this phone worth trying to save? I am not rooted and only have experience in rooting my old Nook tablet...and that was quite challenging for me.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried taking it into the Samsung store location? It's true, it may not fix the problem, but the phone is at the point where it wouldn't hurt, either. You really have nothing to lose by trying. If it fails to work, your phone is still in an unusable state.

Another option is to possibly send it in to Samsung? I'm not sure about the cost for that versus having the store do it for you.
