My phone is showing incorrect storage space. How do I fix it?

[Android Central Question]

I have an android 6.0.1 phone, and after I delete a file it does not add the data from the deleted file to the available storage space. The amount of storage space simply stays the same.

I have found that turning the phone on and off fixes the problem, and adds the deleted space to the available storage space, but doing that also turns the wifi off, and I keep having to ask my cousin for the password.

Until I can afford a new phone, I am stuck dealing with these problems. Some people say to find folders and delete things by connecting your phone to a pc, but I do not have a laptop or desktop, nor a usb. So I need another solution.

Can anyone help with this problem?
