My phone is showing that i am sending 2 messages, reciever does not get 2 messages

[Android Central Question]

Galaxy s8. So I have my SMS linked to my messenger app and thats how i like it. Every time i send a message, it shows on my end that i sent it twice. The person i am texting does not get 2 texts though. It is quite annoying and i am wondering if anyone knows how to fix it?
I have tried clearing cache, restarting device, deleting conversations
When i switch to the standard messaging app, it doesnt happen but i would like to use messenger...
