My phone sends random texts to ppl when I reboot?

So, every time I turn my phone back on it randomly resends a text message to an unsuspecting victim. Not even the most resent message. Just a random one. It sent my boss a message saying I would be at work at 3 which was a message originally sent a few days prior. Then lastnight it sent my buddy a message asking if he was drunk which was completely out of context at the time.

I imagine this is due to some app that i've loaded and i should go through and delete them and restart my phone each time and when it finally doesn't send a message then i've found the culprit. Kind of a pain in the ass. I'm hoping someone else has already had this problem and found the fix for it. Otherwise i'll just send every contact in my phonebook a message stating that any random message received from me should be ignored? uggg

Sorry I can't help but that's a unfortunate situation... That could possibly get me in a lot of trouble.

You could list your apps and if others aren't having issues with some of the same apps you could take it off your list. Just a suggestion.

Okay, i think i may have fixed the problem. So, here's what i did incase this happens to anyone else.

Goto Settings>Applications>Manage Applications. Select the "All" tab. Scroll down and select "Messages." Select "Clear Cache"

I then rebooted and so far, so good <fingers crossed>

There was a well publicized bug about this a few months ago; maybe it hasn't been fixed. I don't text much so it has never happened to me, but you are definitely not alone in this.

According to this article it was fixed, but this is dated after the Shift was release and of course we have never had an update, so...

Android Text Message Bugs Fixed by Google | Gadgets And Gizmos

Actually maybe the Shift was released a bit after this, I can't recall now. I go through phones pretty fast.

Now, this dumb smartphone is getting all my texts out of order. I swear I got a dud. Anyone wanna trade for 2 cups and a string?

Mine was doing that for 3 days and then stopped....not sure what the issue is but I don't think its the phone. A friend that has the evo had the same problem.

You are not alone. I've been having the same problems. Doubt it's related to any software installed; unless, of course, you have the same software I have on my Shift, which is unlikely.

My OG Evo did this when I had a lot of text messages stored in the phone. Clearing out old messages and keeping the messaging app under control helped me a lot. Once the GB update is released, it will include a fix for the text message bug. Google didn't fix the issue until 2.3.3 I think.

Do you have insurance? Have you talked to Sprint?

I haven't been back to Sprint about this issue yet. What I was doing to correct it for a while there was going to Applications>Messenger and then clear the cache from there. That would work for a few days.

Yesterday I did a Factory Reset and then realized that my SD Card was toast. That kept me from accessing any of the files on it of course (pics, apps, etc.) So, I pulled the SD Card out of my ol' trusty BB 8530 and voila! I'm back in action (for now). I always wondered why I only had 60mb of memory left with so few apps. Hopefully this will resolve my random texting issue too.

Think we'll really get GB?

There's has already been a GB leak for the Shift, so yes I'm pretty positive that the Shift will get Gingerbread. Probably sooner than later.
