My phone stops charging when the phone automatically locks while connected to PC

I recently upgraded my Moto G2 to Marshmallow. Now when ever I connect my phone to my PC it shows that it is charging. But once the screen turns off and the phone automatically locks, charging also stops along with it. As soon as I unlock my phone the phone starts charging again. I tried changing the USB option from charging to file transfer and still have the same problem.

Welcome to Android Central! That doesn't happen when plugged into a wall outlet, right? I wonder if this has more to do with the PC and how it manages USB power output. Do you have any other phones you could plug into the computer? If so, does the same thing happen with them?
