My phone will not turn on after connecting a jack from an outlet.

I connected a cable with a jack coming from an outlet and my phone immediately shut off and will not turn on after that. Had ample battery.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Do you mean you plugged your charger into a wall outlet to charge your phone? Was it the original charger for your phone, or a cheap 3rd party one? Do you remember if there was a big spark when you plugged it in?

I can't seem to reply to it for some reason but to answer your questions my phone is an HTC 626 Desire. I plugged in a cable from an outlet that ended with a connection very similar to a headphone jack. There was no spark when connecting at any point.
