My pictures deleted from Samsung 9 plus during update

My pictures were deleted from my Samsung 9 plus during update. They were all maintained in the internal storage. Unfortunately not backed up. Suggestions would be most welcome.

Welcome to Android Central! Were these pictures taken by the Camera app? Did you use a file manager app to look directly in the /DCIM/Camera directory, or were you only using the gallery app?
