'My Profile' suddenly disappeared

Sometime overnight - no restart, no reset or anything - my phone no longer sees my Google profile / info, and my info in 'People' is missing. Google accounts still seem connected, still syncing etc. Tried restarting, tried deleting and adding Google accounts, still won't load my profile pic, contact info or whatever. Also tried re-selecting my Google account for Motorola Device ID; seems to work fine but my profile is still empty.

Update - also tried clearing the cache partition. No change.
I can enter info via People -> Set up my profile, but never had to do this before; always just pulled it from my Google account. Anyone else had this happen or have any ideas how to fix, short of a factory reset?

I noticed the same thing a few days back. I do have the option to setup my profile in the People app - but I've not done so just yet.

Might have fixed it. Stated to suspect Google+ was involved somehow, so I reverted the G+ app back to factory version. My owner profile info magically reappeared. Re-installed recent G+ update and everything still seems well behaved, so - yeah. Hoping.

UPDATE This thread in the Motorola Moto X forum seems to confirm the problem is related to recent G+ update.

Thank you, this happened on my wife's OPO. Now I can fix it for her.

Tried just about everything and cannot get it to work what so ever.

Update: Followed the steps and finally got it to work. Quickly after updating the profile pic disappeared again. Definitely a G+ issue. Will need new update to fix I'm sure of it.

Has anybody found a fix for this yet? Since I posted I've done two updates to G+. Neither of which fixed this issue.

I haven't seen the problem reappear with the most recent G+ updates. In my case the G+ uninstall seemed to fix it. If you haven't already done, you might also try clearing your cache partition. Doing so didn't make the problem go away for me, but it might have been the combination of cache partition clear and G+ revert to factory version. Since then my profile stuff has survived all G+ updates.

Hope you find something that stays fixed for you.

I discovered that my Moto X had this problem, too. Following the above advice fixed my situation. It's a little problem but I'm OCD about stuff and this bothered me. Thanks bc2k.

Yeah I tried both. Upon installing latest version the issue came right back. :(

Just tried it again, both reverting back to factory and wiping cache partition. Upon updating G+ after profile came back, it disappeared again. I really do think the app is the problem, not the device.

I followed the same procedure on my wife's One+ and her local profile is once again linked to her G+ profile. The steps I followed:

1. delete the local profile in the People app
2. go to the Google+ app in Apps in settings
a clear the cache
b. clear the data
c. uninstall all updates
3.clear cache in the Storage in settings
4. go to the People app and click on the top contact, should be the one wanting you to set up the profile
5. on both of my devices our G+ profiles magically appeared
6. let G+ update again
7. look at the top left tile in the quick settings (pull down with 2 fingers from the home screen)
8. G+ profile is still displayed
9. reboot phone
10. look at the top left tile in the quick settings (pull down with 2 fingers from the home screen)
11. G+ profile is still displayed

I'm feeling confident that the problem has been resolved in whichever app caused the issue. The key is to get rid of the data that lingers causing the profiles to not be linked properly.

This is a bit old but I found that when I went into "connections" and opened my "samsung" account and edited my profile to include my phone number the problem fixed itself and it linked with g+
