I have had nothing but good things to say about this phone since I got it in November. No issues, love it. Now since the update nothing but problems!!! I go to open an app, and it opens something different. Last night I put it on the charger, and after 5 hours, it was only charged to 68%!!! I had o turn it off, to get full charge!!! Then as I was sitting there watching the screen, the battery discharged 5%in 3 minutes. big red has got to do something. It's not a bad battery as I have 2 standard and an extended battery.

I've had my Rezound for about a month. The battery life ALWAYS sucked, but mine got worse, too. My battery issues are solved now, and here's how I did it. I got rid of things like "Juice Defender" and "Tasker", and I installed "LTE Switch" to turn off 4G. Let me tell you, since doing it, I don't miss using 4G AT ALL! The trade-off I got in battery life was well worth it. Like you, my battery drain was easily 3-5% every few minutes, even when the screen was off and the phone was "idle". I was lucky to get 5 hours of life. Now, with 4G switched off, I get (easily) a full day. For instance, today, I took the phone off the charger at 11am.. since then, I've been using it a lot today (medium to heavy use), texting, customizing my page layouts and widgets, some internet use, downloading on the market, opening apps, the display at 30-35% brightness, etc.. it is now 10pm, and the battery is at 10% (almost 12 hours of use, and just enough juice left before putting it back on the charger before bed!). Yes, this is all with the standard battery.

With the Mugen 1900mAh Slim Extended Battery coming out in a few days (which should fit the standard battery door, and still allow me to use my protective case), I should be sittin' pretty :)

The thing is, I'm in an awesome 4g area and I never had battery problems before. I do switch 4g off at work because the building prevents me from getting a good signal so I stay on wifi, I have not downloaded any new apps, this is ridiculous. I will look into getting the new extended battery when it comes out because I hate my extended battery now, but someone has to do something. I also tried the fix with the VLA but that did not work.

Yeah, Android is notoriously "weird" and mysterious when it comes to this stuff. Like you, I experienced EXTRA bad battery drain this past week. When I read the posts about the new OTA update, I figured that was it. But, when I checked the status of my updates, and looked for the "VZW Location Agent", it said update failed, and Loction Agent hadn't been installed (strange). So, I forced the update (I figured the battery couldn't get any worse). Still no change. Not until I switched off 4G. My 4G signal was always 1-2 bars, but my 3G signal is strong (3-4 bars).

As much as I hate to say this, what usually fixes a phone after a problematic update is a factory reset. You may have already had an underlying problem before the update, which became apparent after the update. I've seen phones work wonders after a factory reset. Bah humbug, I know, because of all the work you will need to do to customize your phone, but better than to deal with all the problems.

I can only imagine the number of resets that will be required after ICS is released.

Bring it in to a Verizon store and complain to them. They'll probably test the phone, factory reset it, test again, and if that fails they'll set you up with a CLNR Rezound.

What's a CLNR Rezound?

This factory reset stuff is ridiculous. Nobody should have to reset their phones constantly and go through all of that to get things working right. It takes time to do this and get your phone back the way you want it. We should have to do this every time an upgrade ruin what took a week in my case to get the way I want it? That's crazy and worse than Doctors who seem to think their time is more valuable than the rest of the world. Working all the hours I work the last thing I need is ANOTHER time sucker that *I* didn't create to have to deal with.

CLNR = Certified Like new Refurb

I agree about the factory reset, but in a sense it's all that Verizon could train their techs to do when it comes to Android. Anything more would not be cost effective for them concerning the majority of the consumer base when it comes to Android phones can be satiated by a replacement phone.

If the op is still within his return period, he should be able to get a new replacement. I was able to get two NEW retail box replacements under my 90 day return period. Return period depends on who you bought it from though.

I'm outside of my return period and I have experienced the never ending refurbs with Verizon. I started with a brand new iPhone in Feb 2011, until that had connection problems, they swapped it out for a droid x2 in Aug, followed by another droid x2 two weeks later, to a droid 3 that did not have the right battery, to an incredible 2 in Oct, to finally a brand new rezound in Nov. the first rezound was overheating and I took it back, got another one and I finally have a phone I was happy with. I still love my rezound and may end up doing a factory reset, after the past purple of days when I turn off the data network to run off wifi at work, the only way to get 4g back is to go through a restart. I don't want any other phone so I'm gonna keep an eye on it and see if it will start acting normal again.

Nope. I e-mailed them and they said it's release is March. No specific date

They are... They're taking your money every month and laughing all the way to the bank. I posted a thread and in threads asking for an out cry about the issues the OTA's are causing, but time after time all I get is we're not enough in number to create a stir big enough for them to care. I've asked if nothing else just go to VLA in the market and post one star and a comment. It's now up to 103 comments and 7 of those are five star?? I don't get it. How can everyone sit back and just take it when we're having the screws put to us. I mean it's one thing to force bloat on someone, but to push an app that screws up your expensive device is just unreasonable. As long as people take the attitude that my vote won't count and do nothing it won't count and nothing will happen.
