my s4 is slow

I've had it for a few months now. I like it but it occasionally has lag or stutter issues. Slow in general. I've cleared out running apps, uninstalled old apps and deleted old text messages. All of which were suggested to me at one point.

Still has its frequent moments of being slow. How else can I fix the situation?

Disable carrier bloatware or factory reset the phone.

My S4 has no lag at all, but some report that disabling the visual effects help improve its speed.

No lag on mine either; I did set the transition effects settings in Developer options to .5x for each, but I'm not sure that really has made much if any difference - it was already fast before I fooled with the settings.

I have a good bit of music and did have a few games as well but I removed the games
