my s4 mini keeps switching off and on. so can't use. what is happening?

Started today my S4 mini keeps during down and 're-starting. Went to shop they wanted to send it away. They also thought it might be the battery?

Welcome to Android Central! It could be a failing battery, a faulty power switch, a firmware glitch, or a motherboard failure. The easiest thing to try first is a new battery, which you don't have to send the phone away for.
