1. Unit is an LG G4 H818N (Hong Kong) with a serial number that starts with 505.
2. I'm from the Philippines and I bought the unit from an online seller last mid of January this year.
3. Knew when I purchased the unit that it did not come with the standard warranty.
4. Unit went into a boot loop last week - Aug 16 in the evening.
5. Thought the phone just ran out of juice and left it charging before going to sleep.
6. The day after, the phone still was not functional and I became worried that I had an issue because I recalled the warranty terms of the device from the online seller.
7. Searched online about the problem and found out this was an issue with the device.
8. With more searching, found this subreddit and read stories that mentioned LG were replacing faulty devices and I had hope restored.
9. Went to the service center the first chance I got and was told that they will not be able to repair/replace mobo because I had a non-PH unit and it would cost roughly USD 300 for a replacement.
10. Contacted the online seller and quotation was around the same amount for repair.
11. Now really really really really sad since this was supposed to be my first 'good phone'.
12. Last ditch effort and a shot at the moon - sent an email to LG HK for support options since unit is supposed to be a HK unit. *crossing fingers
13. .. or hoping a kind heart from LG reads this and opens up an avenue for support to everyone in the same boat as me (I'm sure there's others out there).
*Hope you don't mind the bullet format.
*Learned my lesson with warranties the hard way.
*I know it was bad judgement when I decided to buy from an online seller to save a few bucks.
*... but deep in me, I still think that LG should take ownership of the issue to retain customers.
*... but since they're off the hook (legally speaking) with these units they opt to turn a blind eye.
*Just out of luck and really really sad.
