Samsung Galaxy S4 Shattered Screen

Hello,

So a couple of days ago i shattered my whole screen , i cant see anything on it . I am trying to back up all my stuff before i switch phones.

Here are a couple of facts/problems :

1) I have a lock screen enable.
2) Phone is not rooted and has the latest update .
3) USB debugging is not enabled

Basically i tried mirroring the phone to my computer but no luck since i cant enable adb ( usb debugging not on )
Bought a cable to try and unlock my phone but no luck cant even see where the mouse is even when having a simple lock screen.
Now i read online i can push a kernel with adb enabled, and thats where i'm really confused , if anyone has any ideas how to do that , that ll be awesome.

Also i had another idea of connecting my phone to my S3 phones screen , not sure if its the same pins inside or the resolution will work .

Any input on the subject matter would be awesome.

Thank you

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 Shattered Screen

Sorry to hear of your accident. The screen of the S3 will not work on the S4, see my post here. You may want to find a repair shop near you and see what they can do for you. They should be able to replace the screen without having to factory reset your phone, so there would be no data loss. Do you use your Google account to keep your phone synced, if so all your data and apps should be on Google and when you get a new phone or repair this one, you should be able to login to your Google account and download all your apps and data.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 Shattered Screen

If you are on Verizon, most of your stuff is backed up on their cloud. If you are on Sprint much of your data is on their cloud. If you have a sim card, Verizon, plug it into a new S4 and most of your stuff will be automatically re installed. Sprint will reinstall your contacts and some other things automatically. You may have to log in to your Google account!
If you get the screen replaced you should not lose anything!
