My Samsung Galaxy S7 edge won't ring during incoming calls..

My Samsung Galaxy S7 edge(the international version) won't ring during incoming calls..after half an hour I recieve notifications that I have missed calls when I have not heard the phone ring at all!the person calling me can hear my phone ringing.tried resetting but to no avail,don't want to do factory reset as I will lose all data.P.S.it's a sporadic event doesn't happen all the time.Any thoughts

No, he can hear the ringback tone his carrier is generating to send back to him. He can't hear whether your phone is ringing or not.

Do you have the ringer volume turned up? (Not the media volume, not the system volume, not the notification volume, the ringer volume.)

Have you chosen a ringtone that you can hear. (Some of them are so soft that you can't hear them unless the phone is near your ear. And a "bumblebee" tone can't be heard by most people over the age of about 16.)
