My Samsung Galaxy tab 3 won't turn on or chrage, help?

So I just got given a galaxy tab 3 by my father in law because they got an upgrade and said I can have it. The issue with it is that it won't turn on or charge. I have looked through forums and things and tried to reconnect the battery inside as some people have suggested but that has worked either. I am looking for other ideas as to what I can do to get it running.

The battery may be drained to the point where it may not indicate it is charging. I would plug it in for a few house without trying to turn it on and see what happens.

Happened to two of mine, returned both, got lenovo Yoga 2, 10.1 no probs now. It seems to be common.

Just a thought, some rechargeable batteries / battery charging circuits will not work if the battery goes completely discharged. In these instances i have had good luck disconnecting the battery and using an external power source or charged battery pack of equal or slightly higher voltage to "force" voltage into the dead battery for a few seconds then use a voltage meter to check if is showing voltage. If so reconnect the battery and use the factory charger and charge several hours. Good luck.
