Android Central Question

my samsung note 8 is supposed to be a 64GB but says its only 16GB, even thou they didnt make that size for this phone. And i am not sure why this is, if this is a big problem and what i can do to solve it.

Could you please take a screenshot of whatever you're seeing this 16th reporting and post it here? You'll have to create a free account to reply to this thread and do so.

First, is that total storage space, or free storage space?

Second, try Genuine Galaxy - Phone Info. If it's not a real Note 8, that will tell you. (Some Chinese manufacturers have been coming out with "Note" phones since at least the Note 5 - but they're less storage, 3G only and missing other things. But many Samsung phones say "Made in China", so you can't tell by that.)

To make an account, as Mooncatt suggested, go to join the Android Central community.

"Hard rebooting" as in what? The only rebooting is pressing the power button, then tapping Restart. If you mean booting to recovery, that's "booting to recovery", not "hard rebooting". (Soft rebooting - also called fast reboot or quick reboot - is just restarting Android, not the whole phone - Xposed, among other apps, has that choice.)

Thanks for the update, but keep an eye on this. I don't know exactly how makers of clones/knockoffs work, but it's conceivable that if the phone is a knockoff, it might have something in the firmware that reports more storage than the phone actually has -- and maybe the 16 GB you saw was real. Doing a factory reset uses the original copy of the firmware on the phone, so maybe the reset restored that part that was faking the 64 GB?
