my samsung s4 reboots after it gets to home screen

Hi guys i'm new to this forum, and just now my s4 has a problem. It reboots after it gets to the home screen but before it reboots yellow lines shows up and then, after like 2 secs after the yellow lines, horizontal black lines shows up and then poof it restarts! I've had this phone for like 2 years and a half and this is the first time this happened to me. Please help me i'm so sad I really love this phone btw my s4 has a lollipop version. Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! First, try wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5744. If that doesn't help, try booting into Safe Mode, in case a 3rd party app is causing the instability. Steps for Safe Mode are at the bottom of that link.

A failing battery can also cause bootloops sometimes, so it may be worth trying a new or different battery.

If you have a microSD card installed, unmount it (in Settings>Storage) and remove it, since a corrupt card can cause various issues.

In addition, corrupt firmware can also cause problems, so your last step before trying a factory reset would be to reinstall the firmware using Samsung Kies. Good luck!
