Ok right now I am using my Droid X that I have had since Sept 2010. Everything stock, I dont root or do any of that stuff.

I simply like the look of the HTC Sense and thats what seems to draw me to the TB. I want to keep the 4.3 screen, so buying a used Incredible isnt an option.

No 4G here yet, so that is a wash.

Now the kicker...... I will be paying FULL RETAIL.

So does it even seem worth it to spend $600+ to get Sense and front facing cam?

I just dont know.................

any words of advice?

Keep the Droid X if you are not in a 4G area.
I also had the X. I do prefer Sense over the Motorola UI, but if you don't have 4G, then wait for the new incredible.

I went from a Droid X, which was working great too. I liked HTC Sense and the front facing camera. 4G is only in a few parts of town here, they haven't gone market wide yet.

My favorite thing...simultaneous voice and data over 3G. That alone makes it worthwhile (for me). That is the fast enhancement ever.

Something to think about...if you haven't already.

It was a full-on GO until you said you'd have to pay full retail. Hmm... for that much money I don't know if the two features you mentioned is worth it.

Also, it really depends on how tough it is to come by $600. If you make that every day by lunch, that's a different story than if you make $15/hour.

Don't go in debt for it, that's for sure. If you've got the expendable cash, do it. I did.

Yes I forgot about the simultaneous 3G.... although not really guaranteed to work everywhere.

As far as full retail.... My X is in mint condition and has NO blemishes at all. IN a otterbox or case since day 1 with screen protector. Plus with all the accessories I have with it (shiny silicone skin, otterbox gel case, otterbox defender, otterbox commuter) I figure I can bring in at least $400-$450 so that should be considered too.

I paid full retail for mine. Depends on how bad you want it too. You can sell the Droid X after you pay full retail to make up a little of the difference. Sense is a whole lot better than blur. Won't be long and 4G will be in your area too. Good Luck.

My opinion is if you're only going to wind up paying in the range of 200 or so, then you might as well get it. I LOVE my TB and I think it is well worth the 250 I paid on release day.

Exactly. Although for whatever it may be worth to you I went from the original moto droid to the Incredible (which I pre-ordered and paid full retail for) and other than some early frustration with battery life never had a moment or regret. And I was as blown away by this upgrade (over the Fascnate, D2, and D Pro) and as I was over the DInc last year BUT I still love my DInc other tha the lack of memory and the slightly underperforming year old processor.

And as for 4G I get the impression that right now you will be happier with the TB if you DON'T have 4G until they refine the software some and increase battery life on it.

if you do decide to get the TB here's my recomendation:

1. If single line, maxed out family plan (have 5 line), or have the unlimited talk family plan .. secure a buyer for your DX. Then buy the TB.

note: full retail is 599.99 + tax = est. 654.00
654-400 from DX sales = cost 254 for TB

2. if family plan, must have between 2-4 line, a non unlimited talk plan, and an old verizon phone that doesnt require data (these three require are very crucial), doesnt matter if it works or not but must not have been reported stolen or lost.

then add a new line into the family plan for the TB on a 1yr contract. use the old verizon phone on the new line, then sell the DX. Suspend that new line with bill so it can't get overage charges and misc charges or keep it active for emergency purpose.

a. TB at 1yr contract price = 320.00 + tax = est. 375.00
b. 1 yr service on family plan with no data = 9.99 + tax= est. 11.50 x 12 = 138
c. $25 act fee
d. sell DX and accessories = est 400.00

so A+B+C = est 538.00 - 400.00 sale of DX = cost 138.00 for 1yr for your TB

I don't have LTE in my area (Buffalo) and I was one of the first ones in line. The attraction for me was the speed of the phone (coming from the OG Droid). I am not a big fan of sense or any mandatory software re-inventing the wheel. I loved the vanilla Google experience and hope to see a vanilla Rom (not a HTC Rom with sense removed) for the Tbolt.

If I were you I would wait for the next line of dual core phones (~ 3 months). That was my original plan but i just couldn't wait any longer. With that said I am very happy, the Tbolt is a hell of a phone. My only complaint would be the battery life but with some tweaking (debloat Rom and Low-volt Kernel) I was able to surpass the battery life of my OG Droid.

since you're using a stock DX, shoot if i wasn't going for the TB .. i'd sell the DX and pick up a DInc as the DInc still feels smooth when you have many apps installed and a live back ground loaded with widgets.

If I was you and meet #2. Shoot .... TB here i come!

I would just get an Inc but I really want the 4.3 screen. I think now that I have had a 4.3 screen I am spoiled and couldnt settle for a smaller screen.

I am still not sure what I will do. Its not like I am in a rush to make the decision so I can just take my time and see if some of the issues with the TB clear up.
