So sometimes when I'm waiting on something it tends to turn off due to it taking more than a minute. But now it tends to not turn off. I'm used to leaving it like that on the homescreen and expect it to turn off after 1 minute but then I hear a noise. The noise is the 15% battery left and I see the screen still on. I'm already due a new phone but unlike the last one, I want a phone not because the current one is malfunctioning, (last one had a touchscreen glitch so bad I couldn't wait for a new phone but had to endure about 5 months). So any suggestions on fixing this till I go get a new phone? I'm not sure when but it's maybe when more new phones start rolling in.

Don't let the battery get to 15%. In fact, never let any lithium battery go below 40$. Lithium is NOT a deep-discharge technology. (Lead-acid is, but a lead-acid battery is more than 10 times as heavy as the equivalent lithium battery.)

The OP seems to be saying that sometimes his screen does not auto-off as it should and he only becomes aware of it when the phone pops the 15% battery warning.

So, the question is, why isn't his phone turning itself off when it is supposed to? Android Jack - do you have a screen protector on the phone?
