Android Central Question

I have an SD card which contains all of my audio files etc (including podcasts, music etc). Has been working fine for years.

Today, the phone stopped detecting the files on the SD card after about 10 mins of switching the phone on. I've tried a number of interventions:

1. Switching the phone off and on restores the SD card and allows it to be used for about 10 minutes before the problem returns.

2. The SD card can be read by other devices (including phones and laptop)

3. The phone can detect files on other SD cards without the problem arising.

4. I've tried cleaning the SD card and the reader, without improving the problem.

For some reason, the specific combination of this phone and this SD card suddenly doesn't function after 10 mins. Can anyone suggest a likely cause?

Thank you!!

I've just run a CHKDSK on the SD card and it's finding lots of corrupt files. I'm guessing this could be the problem? Weird though, because the files are readable on other phones and laptops...

Welcome to Android Central! Insert the card into your computer and backup as many of the files as you can immediately, if they're important to you. Then try reformatting the card -- but if the card itself is failing, it might happen again, so it might be safer to just get a new card.

Do you know that for sure? In other words, did you try opening every one of the files? The filenames might show up, but the files might still be corrupted, and you wouldn't know until you actually tried to open them on those other devices.
