My system takes up 45 gigabytes

A few weeks ago it was 20. a few days ago this was 44. Now it's 45. I have no idea what's happening. It seems like when I delete something, instead of it getting deleted, it just goes to system instead. I have searched online about this to no avail. I have a OnePlus Nord 5G with 64 gigs of storage. I have not updated android for about a month, so there is no reason for it to be going up like this.
