I'm dying a.fast death here. Normally my tb charges rapidly on AC. Tonight it.is. discharging while.connected to power. I just switched to charging from computer but see no reason that will help. I am using the extended battery but it seems to be draining fast.

Is this.a. known issue? Any ideas?

No... did you try rebooting or pulling the battery out for a minute or so???

Have you tried a different charger or cord? It could very easily be the charger or a bad connection on the cable.

Ok, I've had time to try a few things.

Restart didn't help.
Charging while off didn't help.

So I did.a.battery and sim card.pull and plugged in to the charger upstairs....whew...it charged.

Now I'm back downstairs.plugged into the original charger. As before the charging on AC message is there. Part of the reason I'm posting here is to use some power. I'll go back and check again to see if battery has more or less charge. This charger is the original factory charger so I hope.it isn't broken.

I should.know.in 10 minutes. It used to charge no matter what I was.doing on the phone.

I can tell already - not charging. I hope VZW gives me another one.

I know I've said this numerous times here, but I'd highly recommend the Seidio Multi Function Battery Charger and a couple extra batteries (one standard, one extended). With this setup, I rarely use the stock charger anymore and always have a fully charged spare battery at the ready! :)

I have seen bad cables do that. The connector at the Thunderbolt gets spead apart just a small amount, and it doesn't charge, even though the charge light is on.
If you have another cable, try that.

Back downstairs now with the other charger. It is working but not nearly as fast as the other charger used to. I hope this is a.charger issue and not a.phone issue.

I hope it still charges in the car - albeit slowly as always.

Thanks.for all the suggestions. I do.admit I kinda panicked.

I already have a standard and extended battery though the extended battery is the only one I use. I'll look into the seidio charger if it isn't too expensive.

Turns out it wasn't a defective cable. It is the AC to usb power source that isn't working right. I just plugged the original cable into the charger from upstairs and the phone IS charging. apparently All I need is another AC to usb device.
