Any suggestions. Sometimes when I text my keyboard does pop up or the text doesn't appear in the text space. I have to try several things to reset the keyboard and get it working again. Any permanent fixes?

You could try clearing the cache. Is it swype that's doing it? You could try a different keyboard and see if it does the same thing.

I belive those glitches usually happen. More for some than others.

I'm using Gingerbread keyboard and sometimes it bugs out like that. Rebooting the phone usually helps. That's a problem that you can't really diagnose to find a solution.

lol I guess I am not the only one with this BS issue. I was just tossing and turning last night getting pissed over not able to effectively use the virtual keyboard. I just found it very odd AOSP does not have solid comprehensive keyboard yet. The best Keyboard I never seen in my life was by HTC on HD2, I am very fast typer and stock AOSP keyboard slow me down with restrictions and no arrow key. I mean MT4G is not even that big that you can point and select WTF do they not have arrow key?

I tested swype last night only to see it even slow me down more and is some what childish as I just type like AK47 :P BTW herozer0 if you find it let us know.

One thing about Android is... you don't have to stick with any stock applications. That's why we have the market. Find what satisfy you and get it.

And you are okay with that? You see thats the problem, you shouldn't have to go though App Market. I been using *nix for ages and most of the best packages is freeware and not google's version of freeware which we know is adware.

Google took stance on not providing user with anything good so other can make it and sell it while Google get small chunk of it. Why wouldn't system have file manger? console? not even decent keyboard? to begain with?

Because Google isn't Apple, nor do they want to be. They like giving people options. Will the built in keyboard get better? Hopefully. Will I lose sleep if it doesn't? Nope.

Same thing with the messaging app and the email app.

If I wanted the manufacturer to do everything the way they want I would get an iphone.

Thinking like that is the reason we are now bogged down with BS AppMarket. I also love how people always bring back iPhone BS also WTF does this have to do with iOS to begin with? HTC made stock keyboard then Google yet they promote adware to increase the total download of AppMarket.

You obiously have never used Unix/Linux if you you wouldn't have said that. As its standard I do hope someone fork AOSP out of Google's hand and go independent and there is nothing they can do about it if that ever happens.

What keyboard has ads in it? What 'stock' keyboard for bog-standard Android did HTC supposedly make?

You can get a keyboard, file manager and console from the market without paying a penny.

The entire reason for Google's stance is they want users to be able to choose what works best for them. The keyboard on your myTouch is NOT the stock android keyboard. Its HTC's vision of what the keyboard should be. Motorola has theirs, so does samsung, and then there's swype. But you don't have to use them if you don't want to. There's at least a dozen perfectly good keyboard replacements in the market, and there's also versions out on the web at places like XDA as well.

Sounds more like you can't deal with the switch to android. You also have to understand that the screen on the myTouch is a half an inch smaller than the HD2's so things like those stupid little arrow keys won't fit on the screen. If you want them, go to the Evo on sprint.

And for the last time the keyboard on the MyTouch

4G IS NOT THE AOSP KEYBOARD!

It is the HTC IME keyboard. The stock android keyboard is not available on the MyTouch 4G.

It's obvious you didn't clearly read it correct, as I advise you do so. When I said ads I meant the overall policy which is not freeware as its adware on app. Also you clearly didn't see the stock LEO keyboard by HTC on base 29XXX which I dont blame you as I'm sure you couldn't roll out that COM3 build anyways lol point is simple WTF does one need to use utter failure AppMarket for?

When you buy a car do you Google around howto find better steering wheel now do you? Think before you speak with AOSP fanboy sentiment. As I been on real *nix scene longer than Google even started this project.

Lol I never used or paid for single app I just cURLed 8.1gb of paid apps of AppMarket and was one of the reason war broke out with me for panzy XDA Admin. My point is why do I have to do all of that lol? It's like I can't even do anything without breaking rules...

Lol now that's just funny, you and I both know none would use KB with ads in it as dev has to be crazy to do so lol I was just saying apps in general. Idk why HTC make dumb decision as they should have had DHD with 3G US support. Also why in the world would I want Evo? When I had Leo 8months before Evo came out and 3-4months before Leo1024 came out? I was just forced to upgrade due to some kid stole my HD2 as I did custom work on it with my own mods and tweaks, guess he like it. MT4G was the best phone in market hardware wise other than DHD-EU I'm pro GSM.

Everyone calm down.

@HKM you do realize that the ONLY reason Google made Android was to sell ads, right? And that the reason companies use them is to make money, right? Look at what Rovio did with Angry Birds. They went from being a paid app to being an ad supported app and have come out and said that they make way more money from the ads.

Now of course you have a choice. If you don't like that they did that, then don't play the game. So if you don't like how Google does things then go somewhere else. There are plenty of other mobile OS's that would love you for switching.

The downside of being open source is that you can't control what people do with it. Google has a pretty relaxed standard with it's app approval process, so without the kind of control that Apple has you will get some pretty obnoxious ads in some of these apps. If you don't like it find a different app that will do what you want without the obtrusive ads. Or, GASP, find a paid app that doesn't have the ads at all.

And yes, I have used Linux/Unix, but not for any appreciable amount of time. I understand how businesses make money and have learned to deal with certain things even if I don't like them, though.

Lol I actually never do see ads as I first had Adfree, then BISS's custom hosts file and now unlimited paid apps. Call me crazy but I know on free version ads are there even if you can't see them as they are resized from rendering on local host.

I have no problems with Google other than Lol I don't trust them at all, who know who they feeding your data to as its only to be found out maybe new wikileak. Biggest problem for me was converting from shear size of HD2 to MT4G, thats all. ATM testing with stable 1.7ghz OC kernel maybe ill use it for now let's see.

Why should I care how long you've been using linux?

If you don't like Android or the Market, then leave. We won't miss you.

Alright guys, I see posts are disappearing (I can still see them btw) after my warning. All I ask is that you guys keep the discussion on topic. Debates are encouraged, but personal attacks are not cool. I expect you guys to set a better example to the OP who just joined the forums. Carry on.
