When I go to status>about phone, under phone number it says unknown. Couple that with the fact that I can only make about 2 in 10 calls I try....I rooted. Could that be the issue?
 
Did you port over or were you already a T-Mobile customer?

Odd. That's only ever happened to me with a port. Maybe its not been fully activated in the system yet?

That's what I'm thinking - I called and they shot me some OTA update thingy which, after a reboot, shows my number where it should be - funny thing is, the first t-mop rep i called quite quickly said - "bvring it back - it sounds like a hardware issue" - not.
 
Sometimes though, even with a brand new number, it can take up to 24 hours to fully activate...It's unusual but one of the things we have to tell customers when they sign up for service.

Has it gotten any better since then? They'll usually do this to reset the network radio to choose the closest tower. Sometimes the settings will get screwed up, and that's tier 1 of fixing it.
 
things seem better now, yes, thanks. I have attempted 5-10 calls in the last 12 hours and each has gone through. as I am still well within my 14 day period, is there any way this is, in fact, a hardware issue? i would say no...

No. Probably just a software issue that had to do with it being a new line.
