I was told when I purchased the myTouch 4G, that when logged on to a wireless network, you would not be using data from the data plan. As I check the data usage from 'My Account" on the phone, and call T-Mobile and check the usage (and the times when the data was used) it seems to be using data from the data plan when logged on to a wireless network. Now T-Mobile is telling me that they cannot guarantee we won't be charged data while connected to the wireless network. They also mentioned this phone is always using data. Is this true?? I am going to be charged for data even though I am connected to my wireless network??

Wireless network has nothing to do with anything, the fact that you have a smartphone they auto charge you unless you have like a prepaid account i believe, and also if you have background data enabled your phone will auto poll things like email and refresh widgets so yeah its always using some type data....
i dont know if my touch has a setting to disable data... but you can shut down background data,,,settings>accounts & sync>and uncheck background data
