N7100 (Int'l) on Verizon unusable??

Hi all,
While I was deployed in Afghanistan I purchased a Note 2 GT-N7100 from an Italian PX. Used it over there and worked great. Come back to the States last week and Verizon, my carrier, says I can't use it here because they don't have/track that IMEI number. Tried putting my active Verizon mini SIM in it from my GS4 and nothing.
Can I salvage this situation? I really like the bigger Note 2. Can I root or something?

The only thing I can really think of is for you to sell it. Perhaps someone else will have a better idea.

N7100 won't work on Verizon. As said above, perhaps sell it or trade it, and get the Verizon version, which is factory sim unlocked, so you can use it overseas as well on gsm networks.
