Not that familiar with how nandroid backups/restores work, so I figured I would ask...

Can you restore (via recovery) a backup for a Gingerbread kernel ROM (Apex 2.0) if you're currently on a Froyo kernel ROM (CM4DX), and/or the other way around?

I ran into problems when jumping from various leaked Froyo builds. The problems had to do with some parts of the X that clockwork is unable to backup and restore. Baseband not being compatible with earlier builds and AFIK the kernel is not touched when doing a nandroid backup/restore on the X due to it being signed to the locked bootloader.
My guess would be that if you want to go back to a Froyo build you will have to SBF first then restore the nandroid backup. Sort of a pain but Froyo is easy enough to root.

That makes sense. Just wanted to be sure. Thanks.
