Nandroid question

So, this may seem like a strange question, I actually looked around first and I've seen both a yes this works, and a no it doesn't. Hoping someones actually tried it.

If I copy a nandroid backup off the sdcard, completely erase the SD card, and then copy the backup back onto the card, will the backup still be useable?
 
I've made a backup of the nandroid folder to my PC. On one occasion I actually had to format my SD card and copied back the folder and was able to recover from it. So for me, I've done it and it worked.
 
Thanks, thats good enough for me. If the first person to reply told me no, i probably would have just deleted the backup and hoped for the best.
 
I don't see why it wouldn't, as long as you put it back where it was. I don't think it would be any different than any other file that the system would access from the sd card.

It should work fine.I have a folder on my desktop that is just for nadroids.
Thats were i keep my original nadroid backup that was made right after rooting.
 
it will work UNLESS you rename the folder that is your serial number. other than that just drag/drop. works fine.
