Navigation bar back to black :(

I don't know how/why, but all of a sudden my nexus 4 back/home/recent bar at the bottom has gone back to being black, like pre KitKat. any idea how to get it back to transparent? the status bar at the top is transparent still :/

Try going to Settings/Home and choose the Google Now Launcher. No idea if this will work by the way
