Navigation/Navigator Issue

The past day or so when trying to use the Navigation/Navigator apps, the program will shut my phone off and will not allow me to use it. I just wanted to know if anyone else is having this problem or if anyone can offer any solutions. As for my GPS settings, I keep my GPS off until i need it to conserve my battery. Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide.
