Hello all.

I am new to android I have a galaxy s3 and I just bought a tab 2. I was getting real board with my apple stuff so I made the switch and I am loving it, So my first question is I have know idea what I need or how to root my new toys so I can remove all the stuff I do not want so I can free up some memory.

Need help.

Many of the APPS sometimes called BLOATWARE can not be removed! You can remove any updates from the device but not the apps that comes included.

If you ROOT your device you will have access to these files and will be able to remove them. Rooting requires some 3rd party software that installs a modified operating system on your phone. This will void your warranty and erase all apps and data you have installed! It is not for everyone!

I wish there was an app to remove all of the unwanted apps to save the memory or at least hide these unwanted apps so they don't clutter the screen!

I'm pretty sure there are root methods that don't require removing all user apps or data. I'm unsure on the tab 2 because I haven't felt compelled to root yet.

As for your second comment, on ICS you can disable any unwanted apps without root. You won't get the storage space back, because the software is still there, but it will remove it from the app drawer and prevent it from running.

For the bloatware that you don't/won't use.

Find each one in the Application Manager and "disable" them, clear their cache and data first.

Search for them under the "all" tab in the app manager.

That's the best you can do without trying the risky root method. I bricked one tablet by rooting it.
I won't root again unless on an old backup device.

Good luck.
