NEED ADVICE: iPhone 4 to Thunderbolt

Hey guys,

Just wanted to see if anyone here went from an iPhone 4 (verizon) to the Thunderbolt and can help me with some questions.

I have had many Android phones before, but I dropped Android once the Droid Pro came out. I had it for like 2 weeks and went back to my BB and then to the iPhone (which I'm loving).

How hard is to get used to the keyboard, and is there a keyboard I can download and install that is similar to the iPhone's?

When you switch your contacts to the Thunderbolt how did you do it? Through g-mail sync, me, or how?

In general, do you have problems with your e-mails? Do you need to reboot the phone every once in a while because you are not getting e-mails?

Anyone has the Verizon extended battery for the Thunderbolt? How is it?

In general, how are you liking the phone? Best Android you've had so far or is there anything you hate about it?

I know these are stupid questions, but its been a while...

Thanks guys!

Still kinda new but I made the switch was on at&t network had iphone4 .. answers coming up

The phone is a dream except for battery life which is about 2 hours of use for me or 7 hours of standby with setting adjusted to maximize use. But like I said it's by far the best thing I've ever used including the iphone4. An option for you if you really love your iphone is to wait until this summer and see if iphone5 with be LTE. There is also the bionic that's coming out in 2Q11 (so from 2 weeks to 3 months 2 weeks away).

I am hoping they do LTE with the new iPhone, but a few guys I know told me that it won't happen until next year :(

I just really like the notifications from Android or BB. I hate to not know when I have an e-mail, txt or any other type of visual notification.

I'm also getting the extended battery (I think its 2750), so that should cover me for a full day.

I'm glad you are enjoying the phone! I'm jealous! LOL

Thanks for the reply!

How hard is to get used to the keyboard, and is there a keyboard I can download and install that is similar to the iPhone's? it is similar in a way not hard at all I even have the swype keyboard also which is something that iphone do not have and i love it. you will not want do download another keyboard but instead you might want to get the addition of swype.

When you switch your contacts to the Thunderbolt how did you do it? Through g-mail sync, me, or how? you go through g-mail.

In general, do you have problems with your e-mails? Do you need to reboot the phone every once in a while because you are not getting e-mails? For me it's been easy to get emails, I had to initially register with google to get a gmail account was easy.

I ordered 2750 mah extended battery with Verizon which you also might want to do coming from the iphone4 because battery will be an issue until you get used to the new phone.
In general, how are you liking the phone? Best Android you've had so far or is there anything you hate about it? I love the phone I feel as if I have been let out of prison the things I can do and learn are endless, To be honest the battery life at first drove me nuts because I did not understand anything about how to configure things to minimize battery usage but this is a great place always someone to help. Just remember what I said it will take time to get used to. And get the extended battery you will save yourself a headache. This is a wonderful phone and if I had to do it over again I would just this time I will have more knowledge as to what I am getting into. BTW you will see that I am here a lot asking as many questions as I can because knowledge is key.

Thank you very much for the reply its greatly appreciated!

I did order the extended battery already because that is a huge problem for me. I do most of my business on the phone and I can't have a dead phone at 2 pm LOL

This is really helpful, so thank you!

So far, so good here. Just got my Thunderbolt yesterday and also coming from iPhone 4 from AT&T.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to see if anyone here went from an iPhone 4 (verizon) to the Thunderbolt and can help me with some questions.-Sal from BBleaks, Crackberry? I will be glad to help since you have helped us with info for a long time. I'm coming from BB(check my signature) so my perspective is skewed but in a good way.

I have had many Android phones before, but I dropped Android once the Droid Pro came out. I had it for like 2 weeks and went back to my BB and then to the iPhone (which I'm loving).

How hard is to get used to the keyboard, and is there a keyboard I can download and install that is similar to the iPhone's?-There are other keyboards to download but I got used to the stock pretty quickly

When you switch your contacts to the Thunderbolt how did you do it? Through g-mail sync, me, or how? -I use Gmail for personal and once you log in it synced automatically with no duplicates. For work I am using Touchdown and that syncs good as well. (On BB I used OWA with BIS) The stock Exchange email kept giving me errors and I got Touchdown at a bargain

In general, do you have problems with your e-mails? Do you need to reboot the phone every once in a while because you are not getting e-mails?No reboots and they come in just as fast if not faster than on my BB

Anyone has the Verizon extended battery for the Thunderbolt? How is it?-Purchased Friday will be here Monday. I used it for all my BBs so I'm not worried about the bulk. I need the phone to stay on from 6 am until I go to sleep which is late

In general, how are you liking the phone? Best Android you've had so far or is there anything you hate about it?-Coming from BB I am in awe. The ability to customize it and the speed after downloading 50 plus apps is amazing.

I know these are stupid questions, but its been a while...

Thanks guys!

I will never be going back even when they get QNX. This phone and Android as a whole is pretty good.

Your welcome, yeah coming from iphone4 it was a problem for me but as I said it just take time getting used to doing things differently.

Awesome man! Sounds like a winner! Its been a while since I've seen so many people this happy with a phone! (probably since the EVO came out).

Yeah BB screwed up big time this year.... Not many are still interested in them anymore.

Thanks a lot for your help, greatly appreciated ;)

I switched from an iPhone 3G to the TBolt and the TBolt kicks ass so far.

How hard is to get used to the keyboard, and is there a keyboard I can download and install that is similar to the iPhone's?

The keyboard has a few keys in different spots, ie the numeric/alpha toggle, but it is not bad. I think android has a keyboard on the market that is similar to the iPhone, I am not sure what it is though.

I have no problems wit email, but I just uploaded my contacts to windows contacts from my iPhone, then transferred them to the Bolt. Worked great.

The battery has been good so far. My iPhone was jail broken and battery was drained quickly.

The highlights of this phone so far is wireless music syncing using winamp, it is super fast, great call quality, lots of storage, and easy to customize. I am hooked on android.
