Need Advice surrounding buying a One V!

This is my first post, so bear with me! It's pretty long but if you can help me I'll love you forever!

So I'm on Virgin Mobile and have had a used Optimus V for almost a year, and after some battery issues really want to get a new phone. I tinkered around with it and have IHO CyanogenMod 7 (Spelling, I know) with an ICS theme on it because I love how stock looks like. The phone itself has gone through some scratches and all but has remained a trooper, but it constantly freezes or would not wake up, as well as doubling every letter on the stock keyboard sometimes, which can be extremely frustrating when I need to send an urgent text.

I'm hanging on to a grandfathered 25 a month plan, and am wondering if there is any way to sell it online if I can?

But my main question is about the HTC One V. I've had my eye on this phone for a while when it was first announced. I love the fact that it has ICS but I'm not too keen on Sense, as I think it would take away from the horsepower I need. Optimus One has stock Froyo. Is Sense too demanding?

Second, if you know anything about the Optimus V, you'd know there is a storage frustration. I'm constantly hanging on to ~20 MB internal even with most of my apps installed to SD, which I try to avoid for speed. I don't want to do partitions as it seems slightly risky on my 16GB card, but how is the space on the One V (after bloatware?)? How many free MBs do you have?

Thirdly, I heard that the HTC One line except the V is getting Jelly Bean. I recently got the Nexus 7 for my mother and love Jelly Bean. Is there any way of porting in the future? My other phone on sight is the Optimus Elite but it's running Gingerbread.

Battery Life?

One of the only reasons why I'm getting this is mostly for the camera and ICS, should I save a few bucks and go for the Optimus Elite? It has NFC and removable battery?

Buying an Android has never been this confusing :/

The HTC One V comes with the Chin series from its ancestor, the G1. The chin makes it easier to hold. So that's why it's long.

Second, I've had my eye on this phone as well since I heard rumors about it. When it was announced for 200, I was surprisingly excited. I've yet to get my hands on one. With the technology now, and that phone just came out, it's up to date. You shouldn't have any slow down issues.

Third, I to have this double lettering ever since I dropped my phone. Your phone locks up due to your overclock I suppose. What is your overclock, and what rom are you using?

The HTC One V is a sharply fair phone in my opinion. I'm gonma get it soon Enough.

Also, the Grandfathered plan is hard to give up. I too have this. :)

I recently got an HTC one v and was previously running an OV with tdm's CM9 build on it. I think the HTC is a logical move from the OV. I'm not to stoked on sense, but I'm giving it a try before I flash CM9 or a "senseless" custom ROM on it.

I still love my OV, definitely not gonna sell it anytime soon.

sent from space.

First off not to have to shy away from an upgrade but your grandfathered plan will go away when you switch phones. I would not recommend the Elite as the hardware specs are the same as the optimus v. While there won't likely be an ota with jelly bean you can get it on there via root.

I have the OV and I flashed the zv9 on it, now its completely stock and I've tried adb to root it but I cant understand it. I'm debating on buying a one v, but I'm not sure. What does it offer?

So anything on the grandfathered plan? I remember seeing one of those plans being auctioned on Ebay but would it be do able in reality?

Elite's not lookin too hot right around now

It's too late for the grandfathered plan. Besides the HTC One V does not qualify for the $25 plan, and never did. I'm buying mine next week and will not mind paying the extra $10 for a nicer, faster, bigger phone.

Search the forum for the zv9 root thread. There is a one click for it now :-) works great

I'm a noob. lol. I can't find the thread. I've been to the one that you have to use the adb, but I cant find the one click.

Im not sure if its on androidcentral or not, but here is the link to the androidforums thread. The file you want is at the top of the first post called EManU3LXX.zip. The flash image, superuser, and everything else you will need, including adb if you don't already have it are in that file. It's crazy easy to use. Let me know how it goes. You should have no problem though

For everybody reading this later, I need to clarify that this is ONLY for the Optimus V (VM670) AND ONLY for a V that has been updated to a ZV9 baseband. If you don't have both, DO NOT USE THIS.. you seriously run the risk of bricking your phone if you use it on anything else.

Is there any way to get rid of Sense to leave me with stock ICS (Like the old Galaxy Nexus?)?

Im assuming I'd have to root it or something, but would that take away from the camera processor abilities? Still debating on this phone.

yes, you would have to root it. and i'm not too sure on the camera processor abilities. as far as sense goes i liked the camera, and the phone dialer/contacts layout. it was more intuitive than stock ICS.

you should go over to xda forum HTC One V - xda-developers and do a bunch of research, perhaps ask questions in the Q&A section.

i'm a sucker for CM9 so that's what i'm running currently on my one v. i'm glad to be rid of sense... the layout was just ugly to me. camera still works fine though, NOT as good as the sense one - yet. there's a good dev (jmztaylor) working on our primoC devices as far as ROMS go.

This phone amazing. Just got rid of my optimus elite. That phone was DOA. So far sense is freaking smart and functional. Love it.

Alright, change of topic here, I just noticed on the virgin mobile usa site that the HTC EVO V (The top tier phone ATM for Virgin) just dropped to roughly 240. Now, the One V also dropped to 180 at Best Buy, but I'm sondering if I should save up and wait a bit more to get the EVO V instead? Camera's not as great but it runs a dual-core 1.2Ghz! It's running Sense 3.6 though, but ICS. Aaahh the choices! I have no 4G coverage in my area plus I hear WiMax is slow, help decide? The 3D is looking pretty gimmicky but it seems ultra-premium.

Sorry for a dumb question, how do you get the VM ZV9 baseband update? Sorry, I am late to the party :)
