Need advice upgrading ROM

I need some advice and guidance on upgrading my ROM. As of now, I am running an older ROM (aospCMod) and am wanting to upgrade to a new one, probably gROM. I am a techie, but my mind still hasn't wrapped fully around the processes, so I want to make sure I know what I'm doing so I don't end up with a brick.

Since I'm already rooted with a custom recovery and ROM, would I simply:

Download the ZVH update
Flash the recovery and update to the stock ZVH ROM
Re-root
Flash custom recovery
And proceed with gROM?

Is there an easier and faster way about it since I already have a custom recovery and am rooted? I believe I am running VD baseband as of now (it shows "unknown" in the system info menu).

The issue is the there is no known rooting method for the zvh update. So you need to kinda do a Backdoor rooting process. In all honesty the steps you mention are more or less what you need to do. Look at the sticky in the rooting section and the guide there is quite simple. Took me like 20 minutes and that was because I trying to do like 5 different things at once.
