Need an Ad Blocker for Chrome on Google Pixel Tablet

I use Firefox with AdBlock on all my computers. Is there something available for Chrome on a Google Pixel Book to eliminate the ads?

All the Ad Blockers in the Play Store are unavailable. The Google Pixel Tablet is a great device. But having pop-ups and videos and ads coming and going on such a small screen makes browsing the web on it nuts. Or trying to read any articles when the text you are looking at keeps moving around as the ads come and go.

I purchased this to use MobileSheets and a page turner while playing a trombone. So far that's working. But reading the daily paper is horrible as the D&C App or the ePaper using Chrome does not work for me. Gmail is okay. Pictures look awesome. Haven't casted tunes to my Yamaha yet. Youtube videos play well. If it could browse I would be able to use my laptop less. So close.

Note I've had the browser lock up the touch screen twice requiring having to hold the power button down forever until it shut down. I'm hopeful that it was updating and cautiously optimistic. I've also had the Google Sheets app freeze up but I was able to close and open it back up without rebooting.

Lastly I have about 30GB left on the 128GB version after syncing to a Google Pixel 8 Pro. Didn't expect to be so full. I do not backup Music nor Photos to Google. Should have checked the usage on the Pixel 8 Pro (95GB Used) before going all in on the 128 GB Google Pixel Tablet. Time to do some house cleaning.

The Google Chrome browser offers very limited ad blocking, as follows:
1. Open Chrome and tap the 3 dots upper right of screen.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Site Settings.
4. Under Content, tap Pop-ups and Redirects and make sure slider is to the left (blocked).
5. Return to Content, tap Intrusive Ads and make sure slider is to the left (blocked).
Otherwise, you can use another browser like Brave Private Web Browser (which does a good job of blocking ads and trackers) use a VPN with ad blockers or download 3rd party software (not in Play Store) such as Total Adblock (many others to choose from that are also highly rated).

Thanks;
Popups were blocked but they came through anyway. I turned them on and off.
Intrusive ads "Ads are blocked on sites known to show intrusive or misleading ads" is off. Which makes no sense. Turning the switch on sets it to any site you visit can show an ad to you. Again I toggled it on and off to see if it will take.

None of the above worked. So I reinstalled FireFox with UBlock. But while reading the epaper the page jumps around and selects different articles or ads? Chrome does the same thing. The D&C app does the same thing. Basically we can not read the epaper using the tablet.

Interesting. I understand why Google, who make the bulk of their revenue selling ads, might not want you to be able to block too many of them, but I am somewhat surprised Firefox behaves similarly. Have you tried changing the search engine in Firefox from Google to Duck Duck Go to see if it makes any difference?
1. Open Firefox and tap the 3 the dots upper right.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Search.
4. Tap Default Search Engine.
5. Select Duck Duck Go.
6. Try reading the epaper again.

I am inferring that when you say D&C, you are referring to the Democrat and Chronical News out of New York. Because I like a good mystery, I tested different Android browsers and blockers on the site. I can tell you that the site employs some pretty darned aggressive ads and popups (they apparently need your money for a subscription really, really bad 😉). Without additional tools and using only the settings available within the browsers, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge were not able to totally eliminate the ads and subscription popups on the site irrespective of the search engine used. I also tried Firefox browser with AdBlock Plus - surprisingly, ditto!

I am, however, happy to report that the Brave Private Web Browser (using settings to block scripts and "aggressively block trackers and ads") did eliminate those pesky ads and popups on the Democrat and Chronical News site and I was able to browse it uninterrupted.
