Need an honest answer regarding dropped calls and phone types

So here's my situation. I signed up with AT&T about a week and a half ago, started out with the iPhone 3GS (planning on getting the iPhone 4 before my 30 days are up). Though I don't use the phone part much, I have dropped a few of the calls, or I get the "call failed" message before the call is even placed. My question is more for the folks out there who use an iPhone but ALSO use (or have used) an Android device. Do you guys feel that the iPhone drops more calls, less calls, or about the same? I'm well aware that AT&T's network plays a large part in this, but I'd like some perspective on the devices themselves. Since I assume I can only make ONE exchange while within my 30 days, I wouldn't have an issue waiting for the SGSII if it comes to that.
