Need help figuring out a hack - Lotus Traveler Device Administrator bypass

So I've installed Lotus Traveler to access corporate mail/calendar on my Optimus S, and the policy at work required it to install a Device Administrator policy forcing an 8-character password and disabling my options for PIN and pattern lock. Well entering the password on this phone's tiny screen on a keyboard that doesn't rotate to landscape is frustrating every time I want to check a message or take a picture, and downright dangerous if I need to make a call from in the car.

I understand the need for security, so I'd like to find a way to re-enable the pattern lock option but have that transparent to the policy. Or, if there's some combination of being able to run the phone without having it lock (No-Lock app didn't work), that would be ok too, as I could disable all the buttons but one for screen wake in the key mapping.

I tried replacing the Email.apk with the Exchange policy bypass one on XDA hoping it was the same mechanism, but that did nothing. I don't use the Email program so it makes sense - I've got the gmail app for personal mail, and Traveler is its own app.

Thanks ahead of time for any thoughts/suggestions!
