Need Help Finding Case/Holster Combo

I've been looking for a case/holster combo that's as compact as possible, but still provides good protection. So far Seidio is my best bet, but I'd love to see any other suggestions!

Amzer Shellster Type: Lacks bottom/top edge protection

Seidio Surface: Prefer TPU material. A little thicker than I'd like. On my iPhone4 it adds 4mm total. Though it may be better with the S3.

Technocell: This comes closest to what I'm looking for, but I wonder about the quality.

All 3 have similar belt clips. They're all hard plastic. The seidio does have an extra clip at the top to help secure the phone as well as felt to protect the screen.

I'm going with the Seidio Active combo. The Surface, while slimmer, requires constant care to keep dust from building up and scratching the edges where the Surface contacts the phone. I had this issue with my Thunderbolt and switched to the active and have had no problems.

Thanks. Coming from an iphone4 without plastic, I hadn't considered scratching.

With the S3 being so much larger, I want to keep bulk to a minimum. Seidio seems to have the best quality holster case system though.

I'd love to see some dimensions on the active case. The website says 2.2mm thickness (4.4 overall), but I'd like to see some actual measurements. The surface adds 4mm to each dimension on an iphone. If the difference is less than 0.5 mm's than active may be the way to go. Also kickstand available!

I think I'm going to try this one out. It's a tossup, but has what I want. A TPU based case that provides at least some shock protection while covering the top and bottom with a raised lip around the screen. It's pretty compact too. I'm guessing it'll probably work with other tpu cases out there as well.

I like that combo a lot. Very similar to what I have on my BB 9700. Think this will be what I go with when I upgrade.

Not sure how a case scratched a phone? The seidio surface case has felt type materials in the case and holster. The only place the plastic contact the phones is edges and they are really not tight enough to scratch. The case is pretty thin and does not add bulk or double the size of the phone like the OB defender and seidio convert. I have had about 6 or more surface combos and have not had any issues. If you are tough on your cases, maybe the defender is what you need. It seems bomb proof.

The active case is thicker and has a grippy type rubberized material in which a hard plastic exoskeleton attaches to the back at the 4 corners and the middle providing rigid protection in case of a drop. The top is not rigid and you cannot snap it into the spring top of the holster. You must lift up the spring loaded catch and place the case in then release it. ( I am in the habit of doing this with my surface as well). The first three are the Surface combo for the SGSIII and the fourth is the Active Combo for my Galaxy Note.

Any thoughts on whether or not the phone can be reversed in that holster (screen out)? With my DX I use a holster mounted to the handlebars of my bike and then put the phone in screen-out to use GPS/cardio trainer/etc. when biking.

Seems like it should be reversible, I only wonder since the phone is supposed to be kind of curved.

I'm guessing that it won't reverse with the case provided, but I'll find out for sure next week. If it works with other tpu cases, it's more likely that it could be reversed as they're more form fitting in the back.

I'm not sure if I'd trust it on a bike though. You may want to look into a seidio holster that will hold the phone more securely. If you go all out with the seidio convert, the holster comes with an actual locking mechanism. That case is very bulkey though as it consists of the hard surface case surrounded with silicone over which goes a plastic exoskeleton. You could toss it off a building and it wouldn't break a sweat.
