Need help getting rid of a weird notification icon

My S5 has been on Lollipop 5.0 for over 6 months, (on Boost mobile). A weird notification icon with a red line through it came on after a reboot and I can't get rid of it. It took me a while to figure out that it's a "roaming is off" notification icon (shown in the screenshot) Despite a complete review of ALL my system & app settings, and an Internet search I can't figure out how to get rid of it. Has anyone ever seen this?

Is it the one with the red slash across? If so, it looks like it could be related to WiFi calling. I get a similar (more obvious though as it includes the letters ERR) on my Note 5 when, for some reason, WiFi calling can't be set up, either because the service is unavailable or because the WiFi network is blocking it.

If you disable WiFi, does it go away?

Yes, the one with the red slash, but no it doesn't go away when I disable WiFi.

At first I thought it might have something to do with my Google Voice/Hangouts Wi-Fi dialing app, but even when I clear the cache or force close them it still remains.

When I activated Talkback & highlight the notifications bar, it speaks something like "roaming is out"

Have you checked your settings in the Mobile Networks section to make sure no 'weird' roaming options are selected? You might have to go deeper into Network Mode.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried a different SIM Card? Trying to rule out a SIM error with your carrier.

Yeah, I've tried toggling everything in Mobile Networks.

Maybe I'll try going to the Boost store to see if they can test a different SIM card or have seen this issue.

Boost (owned by Sprint) has a "Connections Optimizer" and a "Smart Network Switch" option (under advanced WiFi settings) but I've kept them both off since upgrading to 5.0 because of a known issue. (Keeping them on didn't help either)

I haven't had a major software update in a couple of months but there may have been a PRL or security update that caused this weird icon to appear?

Thanks for your help!

Please let us know if anything cleared the issue as it would help if anyone else encounters the same thing.

I finally found a solution. I found a system app called WFC Settings (WiFi Calling) that had the exact same icon as the notification. At first I tried force closing it with my Greenify app, (phone is not rooted), but that did not get rid of the notification. Then I downloaded an app called Package Disabler Pro which only works on Samsung devices. (It works the same as the Debloater app for Windows, but from the device) When I disabled the WFC Settings app and rebooted the phone that did the trick. I think a recent update to Hangouts, (which I also use for Wi-Fi calling) might have caused the weird notification?
